Authentic Southern Banana Pudding

  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Place a layer of wafer cookies on the bottom of a huge glass bowl. Top with a layer of banana slices. Alternate layers, reserving 10 wafer cookies to crumble for topping.
  • Mix sugar, flour, and salt collectively in a saucepan. Slowly whisk in cream, about 1/four cup at a time. Add milk and butter. Place pan over medium warmth. Stir continuously until custard begins to thicken, 3 to five minutes. Remove pan from warmness.
  • Place egg yolks in a bowl. Whisk some tablespoons of heat custard mixture into the egg yolks. Add the egg/custard aggregate again to the saucepan.
